PHOTOGRAPHER — Frank W. Ockenfels 3 is a Los Angeles based photographer who has spent more than two and a half decades working as a portrait photographer, photographing musicians, celebrities, corporate heads and everyday people. His images have graced the covers of Rolling Stone, Esquire, GQ, Men’s Health, Blender, Newsweek, Wired, Entertainment Weekly, Spin, New York Magazine and People to name a few. His work has appeared on the pages of such diverse magazines as W, Maxim, Men’s Journal, Popular Mechanics, New York Times Magazine, Los Angeles Times Magazine, Outside, Playboy and UK Conde Nast Traveler.

He has worked with most major record labels and has done over 200 album covers and press shoots for musicians such as David Bowie, Willie Nelson, No Doubt, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Strokes, Wilco, Garbage, and LeAnn Rimes to name a few. Frank has photographed movie posters including The Social Network, The Last Airbender, Jonah Hex, Legion, Time Travelers’ Wife, Hellboy 2, Wanted, The Incredible Hulk, Harry Potter, Chronicles of Riddick, Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind for studios such as Universal, Paramount, Focus Features, Warner Brothers, Sony and Fox. He has done TV advertising campaigns for all the major networks including ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox and CW and cable channels such as AMC, FX, E!, Lifetime, TNT, Showtime and HBO.

Frank has also directed for many years. He has directed music videos for bands such as Alice in Chains, Blues Travelers, Johnny Lang, the Deftones, Better than Ezra, and Everclear. He has also shot commercials for clients such as Nike, Converse, K-Swiss, Canon and the New York Times and on-air promos for the CW, E!, The Style Channel and Comcast.

Frank is a nimble problem solver. His ability to adapt to unusual ten minute situations as well as staying away from the obvious seem to be qualities that set him apart from other photographers. He believes in meeting someone first and then deciding what the image will be. Working with artificial and existing light, he collaborates with the subject to create a unique moment. In many ways Frank is unconventional. He believes that photography can still have moments of purity without being overly conceptualized or retouched.

PHOTOGRAPHER – Originally from London, Ben attended Sydney’s College of Arts. After graduation, he began his career by assisting photographers, and soon landed assignments from Australian Elle and Vogue, among others.

Fascinated by American hip-hop culture, he came to New York in 1990. He began documenting urban youth, hitting the streets and clubs to photograph these kids and their culture. In 1995 his move became permanent, and he has worked consistently ever since. He has photographed campaigns for Victoria’s Secret, The Gap, Nike, T-Mobile, Land’s End, Next, Ralph Lauren, Kodak, Apple and Madewell, among others.

His work frequently appears on the covers and pages of GQ, InStyle, Glamour, Lucky, Esquire, Vanity Fair, Marie Claire, Elle, Entertainment Weekly, Blackbook, Spin, Vibe, Harper’s Bazaar, Outside Magazine, and other titles worldwide.

In 2009 Ben published “Lickshot”, his highly personalized scrapbook and travel diary. A triumph of lo-fi style, its pages are a delirious pastiche of gritty photographs, wonky Polaroids, and hand-scrawled graffiti, held together by slashes of colored tape.

PHOTOGRAPHER — Jake Chessum’s spontaneous and exuberant approach to photography has led to a long and varied career. His timeless and engaging celebrity portraits have appeared in many prestigious magazines including GQ, Men’s Journal, New York Magazine, Glamour, Paper, Entertainment Weekly, The New York Times Magazine and Esquire.

The range of celebrities he has been commissioned to shoot span the worlds of film, politics, sports and music and includes: Robert De Niro, Johnny Depp, Brad Pitt, Natalie Portman, Jake Gyllenhaal, Michael Douglas, Mickey Rourke, Vince Vaughn, Chris Rock, Roger Ailes, Jennifer Connelly, 50 Cent, Rush Limbaugh, Hillary Clinton, Shaun White, Alec Baldwin, Reggie Bush, Spike Lee, Radiohead, Kofi Annan, Sir Ian McKellen, Bill Gates…the list goes on and on.

Chessum studied graphic design at St. Martin’s School of Art and after graduating began his photography career in London, where his first commission was for “The Face” magazine. This led to an enduring relationship with the title. The Face sent him to NYC and L.A. where he got a taste of life and work in the United States. In 1999 Chessum moved permanently to NYC, where he still lives with his wife and daughters.

With writer Amy Larocca, Chessum created “The Look Book” column for New York Magazine. This body of work resulted in the best selling book “The New York Look Book – a gallery of street fashion” published by Melcher media in 2007. Chessum’s first monograph “Rubbish”, a collection of images of trash on the streets of cities he has visited throughout the world, was published by Auditorium Editions in 2008. Four images from the book were selected for American Photography 25.

He has also created campaigns for a range of advertising clients including Microsoft, J.Crew, Toyota, Chase Bank, Adidas, Kodak, ESPN SportsCenter, HSBC bank, SAP, The Red Cross, and Reebok.
